Rotary Club of Kona Sends Care Boxes to Schofield Barracks soldiers deployed to Afghanistan

April 14,2011, Kailua-Kona, HI. Rotary Club of Kona members assembled 40 care boxes for troops in the 728th MP (Military Police) Battalion deployed at Camp Dubs, Kabul, Afghanistan. The care boxes included 8 lbs and 210 individual VIA coffee packets donated by Starbucks Coffee, Palani Road location in Kailua Kona, donations from Safeway location in Kailua Kona, magazines donated by local businesses and community members, DVD's, macaroni and cheese, granola bars, candy, gum, Q-tips and other needed items. The soldiers at Camp Dubs do not have a PX, so these items packed with letters from Kona Rotarians and keiki will provide enjoyment and aloha from home as they complete missions at least twice a day and continue their work with the Afghan National Police. Rotary Club of Kona members showed the true spirit of Rotary with their generosity and efforts to complete the Care Boxes Project.
